WoW Professions Leveling Guide - Best New Gold Making Profession

Best WoW Professions GuideWorld of Warcraft Profession Guide

Playing World of Warcraft (WoW) entails more than just completing quests and taking down bosses. In between dungeons and raids, players have the opportunity to make useful items and plenty of gold through in-game professions.

Within this WoW Profession guide there are both primary and secondary professions available for all characters and it is essential to successful gameplay to take full advantage of this opportunity to make items to use or consume, trade with other players and sell at the auction house.

Each character can acquire two primary professions, as well as all four of the secondary professions. Primary professions are divided into two basic classes, gathering and crafting. The gathering professions include herbalism, mining and skinning, while the crafting professions include tailoring, leatherworking, blacksmithing, alchemy, enchanting, inscription, engineering and jewelcrafting.

It is common for players to choose one gathering profession and one crafting profession that go well together, such as herbalism and alchemy, where herbalism allows you to gather herbs, plants and flowers and alchemy allows you to craft those items into potions for healing, mana regeneration, stat boosts and a number of other uses. Another popular choice is skinning and leatherworking. Skinning allows toons to skin animals after they have been killed, either by them or other players, and leatherworking allows toons to craft the skins into usable armor and trade goods. Other examples of complimentary gathering and crafting professions are the combinations of mining and engineering, mining and blacksmithing, or mining and jewelcrafting. In these cases, mining allows you to gather materials needed for crafting gear, gadgets and trade goods with your engineering, blacksmithing or jewelcrafting profession.

There are many factors to consider when selecting the primary professions for your World of Warcraft character. For example, players should take into consideration what items are most useful for their character, which items will sell well and bring in gold, which professions do their other toons already have, and which professions will be easier to level with the type of character they are playing.

If a WoW player already has a high level herbalist/alchemist who can easily make and send potions to his or her other characters, than the best choice is to select a different set of professions that will create a broader scope that will benefit both that toon and the other toons he or she plays. Also, it is not uncommon for a player to switch professions as they reach the upper levels of gameplay. Some players find that once they have achieved a high level and have the ability to acquire highly sought after high level materials, switching to two gathering primary professions and simply gathering materials and selling them to crafters is very profitable.

As for secondary professions, acquire and level all of them. Some players will say that fishing or cooking is a waste of time, but folks with high level fishing and cooking skills know that there is money to made and stat bonuses available from some of the higher level fish and recipes. Fishing and cooking are easy to level together since there are plenty of cooking recipes that require fish. Another reason to level your fishing skill is that fish are not the only thing you will catch. Find schools of fish and cast into them and you can catch some useful and fun items, or chests with armor and weapons that can be sold at the auction house for gold.

Some players find first aid annoying to level, but if new characters save all of their cloth from low level quests and use it to level their first aid skill, they will find that first aid comes in handy for heals between fights, heals that don’t require mana, and a way to heal without consuming food or drink when running low. The anti-venom characters learn to make can also come in handy when playing in a group that doesn’t have a toon who can dispel poison.

Riding is a secondary profession that you absolutely must acquire. Without it, your toon will take hours to get from one town, or quest, to the next and it just goes without saying that riding is an absolutely necessary skill for every player in the game. To learn more about how you can get your hands on the latest and most up to date WoW Profession Guide check out the Ultimate WoW Professions Guide
